Is coffee addictive? Yes, coffee drinking is one of today's most common addictions. Do you have to drink one cup of coffee or more before even being able to walk up straight, stop squinting and open your eyes? Well, you're not alone. But when are you really addicted to coffee? Where do you draw the line between just liking coffee very much and actually needing it to function properly? And is coffee a drug and a poison or just a strong drink that people have drunk for a very long time? These are hard questions and there isn't that much research to rely on in this matter. The simplest answer is to listen to your own body, only you can decide when something is harmful to you. If you feel ill or get a bad stomach ache from coffee, this will soon tell you to be more careful. But to get rid of an addiction isn’t as easy as it may sound. Addiction is one of the most common coffee consequences and therefore there is much help to get if you feel that you can’t quit on your own. Just as there are nicotine replacements and compensators for smokers who find it hard to quit, there are substances to help coffee addicts. Coffee addiction symptoms can be both physical and psychological.

Remedies for coffee stomach ache
In the east coffee is not a traditional drink but merely a fashion thing. The drink that has been around for even longer than the coffee in the West is, of course, the tea. Many phenomena from the East are considered very wise and healthy and are more and more influencing the West. No one has ever heard about bad stomach ache from tea so maybe the tea could be a good substitute for coffee in our culture? If you often get coffee stomach ache you should consider replacing this drink with more gentle ones such as tea or hot milk. To get a taste more similar to coffee, if you miss this, try adding some cocoa. Other things you can add to get a more exciting taste is honey, ginger, pepper mint or other spices. If it's not the coffee itself you're over-sensitive to, you have to look to if and what you add to your coffee. If you add milk and get bad stomach ache, you may be lactose intolerant. Sugar probably doesn't worsen the stomach ache but if you use synthetic substances as sweetener this can cause pain. Do you drink your coffee with lots of cream and get bad stomach ache? The big amount of fat may indicate that there's something wrong with your liver.
